(more than) dust. is a photo book that challenges the harmful treatment of femmes through the direct confrontation of statements that have been said to them. These windows of experience mirror the invalidation, minimization, misogyny, and abuse that permeate our interpersonal spaces. There are three quotes that follow each portrait, documenting each person's individual experiences. The photographs of the quotes deconstruct the normalization of harmful treatment by fostering a relationship with the context, emotions, and stigmas associated with each statement. By sharing these experiences, we are speaking up about treatment that we are so often expected to tolerate, ignore, and remain silent about. After sharing my own experiences with toxic relationships, and the tremendous growth that took place during that process, this project has gradually evolved into this platform for others to share. The cathartic act of revealing the internalized in such a vulnerable way serves to heal the disparaging ways we communicate with one another.

(More than) the negative reviews
By Megan Schenker
I had the honor to meet Jamie at San Francisco State University. Her empowering and encouraging message is clear in (more than) dust, all the while utilizing hateful words and moments as motivation to support woman and people around the world who suffer from that hate. It is apparent, even from reading and watching the reviews and actions sparked from this book, that there is much more work and awareness to be done around these issues.

Anti-male messages, classic victimization, and self-centered easily offended feminists coming back to try to make everyone else feel bad. If you're a true feminist then stay away from this book as it promotes the wrong side of women's rights. I will quote from the book, "Why are you still talking? Turn off the light." If you can explain to me how that can even be taken as sexist, then I will be quite surprised. Intelligent life, stay as far away from this book as you can.
